Requirements
  • Completion of formal training in an approved School of Radiologic Technology
  • Maintains current New York State licensure and American Registry of Radiologic Technologists certification with continuing education credits as required
Responsibilities
  • Responsible for producing high quality X-ray images by conducting exams in a safe and efficient manner. Verifies and follows referring providers' orders while remaining in compliance with the Imaging Sciences departmental policies. Possesses a sound understanding of human anatomy as well as x-ray positioning and the use of immobilization devices when warranted.
  • Prepares room and patient per order, properly sets up equipment, positions patients, and determine proper exposure factors in order to produce a high quality image.
  • Utilizes electronic patient information systems to verify patient name, date, appropriate exam, and any special exam specific comments from the provider. Understands and practices the Dual patient identifier procedure.
  • Produces a diagnostic, high quality image for interpretation by the Radiologist.
  • Maintains accurate patient record keeping by properly identifying images and assuring images are sent to the PACS system correctly.
  • Transfers patients to and from imaging tables using assistive devices such as ARJO lift, transfer boards, hover mats.
  • Maintains appropriate supplies in the x-ray rooms.
  • Completes and bills for studies accurately.
  • Other duties as assigned.
