We have a great opportunity for a Lead Cloud Solutions Architect to join the Supply Chain Solutions & Infrastructure (SCS&I) team, within the Ferguson IT organization. SCS&I is responsible for the creation, updates, and support of the applications that Ferguson associates in the Supply Chain organization use to perform their day-to-day tasks which include order management, order fulfillment, inventory management, warehouse management, and supporting human labor with automation using conveyors and/or robotic systems. In this role, you will be responsible for the installation, configuration, administration, support, and maintenance of Ferguson’s multi-cloud environment, ensuring the reliability and performance of our technical environments. Working closely with collaborators and team members, you will manage and optimize Ferguson’s systems infrastructure, helping to meet operational needs and drive continuous improvements. The ideal candidate would have experience supporting complex cloud environments, who’s eager to gain experience supporting daily operations and migrations to various cloud partners.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with other Cloud Architects to design, implement, and document scalable, secure, and reliable cloud solutions that align with business goals and standard processes.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation, standards, and policies to ensure the cloud environment adheres to organizational and industry guidelines.
- Monitor, review, and analyze reports to identify inconsistencies in cloud components, recommending and implementing remediations as necessary.
- Identify, evaluate, and implement opportunities for automation to streamline operations, improve efficiency, and reduce manual effort.
- Configure, manage, and maintain cloud user access roles, ensuring security and compliance with access control policies.
- Provide technical leadership for complex projects by engaging in solution architecture design, conducting technical reviews, and translating business requirements into system specifications.
- Collaborate with multi-functional teams to troubleshoot and resolve sophisticated issues within the cloud environment and associated systems.
- Continuously assess the cloud environment to detect deficiencies, recommend optimizations, and drive improvements in performance, security, and cost management.
- Stay updated on emerging cloud technologies and trends to propose innovative solutions and maintain competitive advantage.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- 7+ years of experience in operation and administration of large-scale enterprise services, with a focus on optimizing performance and scalability.
- 4+ years of hands-on experience implementing and managing multi-cloud environments (Azure, AWS, Oracle Cloud), including hybrid cloud solutions.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
- Relevant certifications such as AWS Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Architect, or similar.
- Expertise in automation tools and Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) for provisioning and managing cloud resources (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation).
- Programming and scripting proficiency (Python, PowerShell, ARM, Terraform) for workflow automation, deployment pipelines, and system integrations.
- Experience with cloud-native application design, container orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes, Docker), and microservices architecture.
- Knowledge of DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and agile methodologies.
- Familiarity with cost management and optimization strategies in cloud environments.
- Proficiency in designing and deploying secure, cost-effective, and resilient architectures across diverse cloud platforms.
- Demonstrated ability to define problems, collect data, analyze and interpret insights, and deliver actionable solutions for complex business challenges.
- Advanced troubleshooting capabilities and a proven track record of resolving technical issues in high-pressure environments.
- Advanced knowledge of operating systems (Windows, Linux), networking (e.g., routing, load balancers, VPNs), and security infrastructure (e.g., firewalls, IDS/IPS).
- Innovative and open-minded approach to problem-solving, with the ability to challenge traditional processes and explore new methodologies.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams, influence business collaborators, and mentor team members.
- High adaptability and a continuous learning mentality to stay updated with emerging technologies and standard processes in cloud architecture.
