Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Three to five years of experience in the photo licensing industry and experience working with digital images are required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Cloud, and Adobe Acrobat is required.
  • Knowledge of art history and intellectual property and copyright issues as applied in the visual arts is required.
Responsibilities
  • Coordinate image acquisition and rights clearance for a high volume of communications, exhibitions, and public programs projects, including print and digital publications, digital and video communications, websites, and marketing and advertising materials.
  • Source reproduction-quality images and negotiate licenses for their use with image vendors, museums, galleries, collectors, and artists.
  • Maintain relationships and billing arrangements with stock image, video, and music agencies.
  • Work with colleagues in other Getty departments and imaging studios to acquire and clear rights for Getty collection images.
  • Develop and maintain image logs or other records to track caption and credit language and ensure that legal restrictions for use are documented.
  • Ensure that images are used in compliance with licensing contracts, including accurate caption and credit lines upon publication.
  • Organize image files and documentation for transmittal to design and production teams.
  • Process payments and track costs against project budgets.
  • Supervise rights and permissions freelancers on select projects when needed.
  • Assist publications licensing activity by conducting research, preparing materials, drafting proposals and contracts, and tracking contracts through Procurement.
Desired Qualifications
  • A bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Airtable is a plus.
  • Familiarity with one or more European languages is a plus.
  • Understanding of the Open Access and Open Culture landscape in the arts and culture sector is a plus.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
