Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Clinical Laboratory Science, Physical Science, Biological Science, or a related field.
  • CT (ASCP) certification.
  • ThinPrep Cytology Screening Training and Certification.
  • Graduation from an approved Cytotechnologist Training Program.
  • Strong computer proficiency.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple responsibilities, and work independently.
  • Commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
  • Prepare and screen Pap smear specimens utilizing ThinPrep and imaging technology.
  • Screen and evaluate gynecologic and non-gynecologic specimens.
  • Differentiate between benign, infectious, pre-malignant, and malignant cellular findings.
  • Utilize the ThinPrep Imaging System and Review Scope to support specimen evaluation and diagnosis.
  • Refer complex or challenging cases to the Department Supervisor or Pathologist as appropriate.
  • Support quality control activities and ensure accurate documentation of results.
  • Initiate corrective actions when quality concerns are identified.
  • Assist with reviewing and updating departmental procedures and manuals.
  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies, laboratory procedures, and accrediting agency standards.
  • Monitor laboratory equipment performance and coordinate maintenance and service as needed.
  • Maintain proficiency with laboratory and computer systems.
  • Participate in departmental and organizational quality assurance activities.
  • Stay current with advancements in Cytotechnology through continuing education.
  • Communicate with peers and leadership regarding workload, scheduling, and operational needs.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Support departmental operations and staffing needs as required.
  • Participate in department meetings, safety initiatives, HIPAA training, and accreditation activities.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to promote teamwork and high-quality patient care.
Desired Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Cytotechnology.
  • ThinPrep Imaging Processor and Review Scope certification.
  • ThinPrep T-2000 training and certification.
  • One to three years of Cytotechnologist experience.
