Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in psychology, Student Personnel, Guidance, Education, or a related field is required.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills are required.
  • Experience in federal educational projects or student personnel work requiring evaluation and documentation procedures is required.
  • Knowledge of and experience relating to the academic, social, and economic needs of first-generation, disabled, and low-income students, and students meeting Section 427 of the General Education Provisions Act criteria, is required.
Responsibilities
  • Academically advise up to 80 assigned participants to support successful completion of their desired program and proactively monitor student persistence each term.
  • Assist students in identifying academic, financial, and career needs and help them overcome barriers to success.
  • Assist students with academic and financial aid appeals to support retention.
  • Support students with completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid and successfully transferring to a four-year college or university.
  • Co-develop and lead the Summer and Winter Institutes and the TRIO Day for Graduates event each year.
  • Co-develop and lead study and life-skills workshop series each fall and spring semester for program participants.
  • Co-coordinate two campus visits to four-year institutions per year.
  • Maintain accurate records to track grant participant progress.
  • Make presentations and communicate with faculty, staff, and student groups.
  • Participate in professional training required for grant compliance and college policies and procedures.
  • Assist the grant team with grant applications during the renewal period as necessary.
  • Attend related local, state, and regional conferences and training programs outlined in the grant.
  • Work as a team member within Sponsored Programs to improve services to and retention of students.
  • Demonstrate student advocacy and customer service by identifying root causes of student problems and supporting student success within an inclusive environment.
Desired Qualifications
  • A master's degree in psychology, Student Personnel, Guidance, Education, or a related field is preferred.
  • Two years of work experience in TRIO programs is preferred.
