Requirements
  • RN license (current appropriate state licensure)
  • ACLS certification
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing (implied by RN and nursing education)
  • 6-8 years of related experience
  • 3+ years supervisory or project/program management experience (preferred)
  • Minimum of three years of experience in an Ambulatory Surgical Center/Vascular Access Lab, or combined ASC, surgical, Interventional Radiology and ICU/CCU experience
  • Minimum of three years of Interventional Radiology, scrub experience (preferred)
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite
  • Experience with medical database software
  • Good communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Demonstrated management skills to lead facility personnel and ensure delivery of quality care
  • Certified in CPR or completed CPR certification
Responsibilities
  • Quality: Responsible for supporting and driving quality standards through meeting regulatory requirements and Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI), including use of CQI tools.
  • Assists with implementing quality goals and develops facility specific action plans to achieve quality standards.
  • Accountable for outstanding quality of patient care by ensuring policies and procedures are followed.
  • Assists with implementing training according to policy and ongoing compliance with risk management initiatives.
  • Responsible for addressing and acting on adverse events and action thresholds.
  • Ensures all Quality policies and procedures are communicated to and implemented by staff.
  • Maintains integrity of medical records and other administrative/operational records.
  • Complies with all data collections and auditing activities.
  • Maintains facility environmental integrity, including safety.
  • Patient Related: Coordinates all aspects of patient care from admission through discharge.
  • May confer with patients prior to procedure to obtain medical history, discuss procedure, and perform nursing assessment on day of procedure.
  • Ensures patients and families educated regarding post procedure care of vascular access.
  • Addresses patient concerns, acts as resource for staff.
  • Ensures procedures are scheduled timely and facility capacity utilized.
  • Assist with patient workflow including direct patient care and monitoring pre/intra/post procedure.
  • Identifies and communicates patient related issues to the Facility Manager.
  • Oversees documentation of patient treatments from admission to discharge.
  • Confirms written orders, consents and lab work completed and documented; prepares lab requisitions and forwards results.
  • Assumes primary responsibility in emergencies; maintains competency with emergency procedures; initiates CPR and emergency measures as needed.
  • Administers medications and intravenous conscious sedation per physician orders and regulations.
  • Physicians: Ensures regular and effective communication with physicians as needed.
  • Attends Governing Body meetings and CQI meetings with physicians; assists with data/materials.
  • Ensures possession of necessary instruments and equipment.
  • Maintenance/Technical: Ensures appropriate operation of facility equipment and technology (monitors, defibrillators, recording devices, computers).
  • Inspects facility equipment regularly; reports malfunctions.
  • Inspects operating systems including temperature checks; inspects facility structure.
  • Maintains clean, safe, sanitary environment.
  • Handles blood spills per Bloodborne Pathogen policies.
  • Administrative: Participates in cost control; efficient use of medications, labs, inventory, supplies and equipment to meet cost goals.
  • Assists in development/revision of policies and procedures for continuous process improvement.
  • Initiates and completes ongoing CQI activities including monthly reports and meetings.
  • Manages medications including ordering, receiving, inventory control and recording of controlled substances.
  • Oversees usage logs for medications and drug disposal; coordinates with pharmacist for medication accuracy.
  • Ensures medical records are accurate and compliant prior to discharge; performs chart audits.
  • Coordinates annual medical testing and competency testing for staff with Facility Manager.
  • Participates in regulatory and accreditation surveys and action plans.
  • Verifies records for implanted devices are complete and maintained.
  • Coordinates collection and forwarding of vendor invoices to accounting.
  • Acts as Facility Manager in absence or as directed.
  • Ensures nurses' progress notes are accurate and complete.
  • Acts as Patient Safety Officer and conducts quarterly patient safety meetings and fire drills.
  • Complies with HIPAA policies and standards.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Additional responsibilities may include focus on one or more departments or locations.
Desired Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred; Advanced Degree desirable
  • 3+ years supervisory or project/program management experience preferred
  • Supervisory or management experience within a medical or vascular access environment preferred
  • Interventional Radiology, scrub experience preferred
  • Experience with Medical database software and Microsoft Office suite (if not already in requirements)
