Requirements
  • A high school diploma is required.
  • Degrees and/or certificates in maintenance are preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal skills are required.
  • A strong mechanical background, including electrical, electronic, and mechanical experience, is required.
  • Strong mathematical, computer, and reading skills are required.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment is required.
  • Experience managing projects and maintenance teams delivering continuous improvement is required.
  • At least five years of supervisory experience in industrial plant maintenance is required.
  • Proficiency in blueprint reading and troubleshooting electrical, electronic, and hydraulic equipment operations is required.
  • Technical experience with high-voltage systems, motor controls, process automation, instrumentation, and programmable logic controllers is required.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills are required.
Responsibilities
  • Initiate and maintain effective professional relationships with current and potential suppliers.
  • Maintain current Certificates of Insurance for vendors, contractors, freight carriers, and applicable farm-out vendors entering the premises or working on equipment or facilities.
  • Use the computerized maintenance management system to create task lists and maintenance plans for job planning.
  • Estimate the skills and labor hours needed for work by visiting job sites for new work-order requests and coordinating with technicians.
  • Coordinate with operations scheduling to schedule maintenance functions without disrupting critical customer schedules.
  • Communicate work-order status with maintenance and operations personnel and discuss work orders and equipment issues with operators.
  • Verify the accuracy of work-order request information before converting requests into work orders.
  • Convert work requests into work orders in the computerized maintenance management system or enterprise asset management system.
  • Manage planned and unplanned work backlogs using the computerized maintenance management system.
  • Prepare the weekly maintenance schedule and review it with the Maintenance Manager.
  • Establish job priorities with assistance from production and maintenance management.
  • Plan for work interruptions and develop backup plans.
  • Participate in budget preparation and administration.
  • Define the scope, cost, and engineering requirements for outage jobs.
  • Maintain the plant's preventive and predictive maintenance program.
  • Use predictive data, including thermography, vibration reports, and oil analysis, to set priorities for outage work.
  • Assist failure-analysis efforts by helping implement corrective actions to prevent recurring equipment failures.
  • Assess and recommend whether work should be performed using internal resources or contracted to an outside vendor.
  • Oversee critical spares and parts inventory and ensure store items are available and reserved for scheduled work.
  • Ensure kits are built for planned work with appropriate labor assignments to support timely completion of work orders.
  • Update equipment history.
  • Maintain all safety notifications and work orders in the computerized maintenance management system.
  • Ensure all completed work orders are properly closed out.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Maintenance/Production Manager or General Manager.

  • Experience with folding-carton manufacturing is a plus but is not required.
