Requirements
- A Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy and current licensure in the State of Michigan are required.
- Annual completion of 15 hours of continuing education is required.
- Basic knowledge of personal computers is needed to enter prescription information.
- Organizational skills are needed to prioritize multiple tasks.
- Interpersonal skills are needed to communicate successfully with individuals and groups and interact with people at all levels to communicate ideas and concepts clearly.
Responsibilities
- Screen physician orders to ensure the correct medications are given to individual patients ranging in age from birth to 100 or more years.
- Assure that the most appropriate drug and dose are prescribed, dispensed, administered, and properly monitored.
- Screen orders for proper drug and dosage, drug interactions, adverse reactions, allergies, and contraindications.
- Research and answer drug information questions.
- Provide various clinical pharmacy services.
Desired Qualifications
- Completion of a six-year Pharm.D. degree is preferred.
- One to three years of experience working in a hospital or medical center pharmacy setting is preferred.
