Requirements
  • Education: Ph.D. or Master of Science in accounting, together with a Canadian Chartered Professional Accountant designation held for at least three years.
  • Must have acquired during graduate studies one of the new competency areas of the 2022 CPA Canada 2.0 Competency Map: Equity, Diversity and Inclusion or Indigenous culture.
  • Education requirements must be completed before the contract starts.
  • Designation: Must hold a Canadian CPA professional designation through a post-graduate accredited program, achieved since 2013, i.e. the introduction of the current CPA Professional Education Program launched in 2013.
  • Professional experience: Must demonstrate recent (within last five years) professional experience in audit (including audit of large organizations), complemented by an excellent knowledge of IFRS, ASPE, Not-for-Profit Organizations, and Canadian Public Sector Accounting Standards.
  • Teaching Experience: Must have recent (within last five years) teaching experience at the university level in the field of audit or financial accounting. Must be familiar with the use of multidisciplinary cases in accounting.
  • Active language: Courses to be taught in English. Passive language: A passive understanding of French is an asset.
  • Availability: Must be available to teach during the day.
Responsibilities
  • Assist the School (Program Director) transition its CPA program to the new 2027 CPA professional program.
  • Help develop the experiential learning components required to meet the competency map in the areas of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion and Indigenous culture.
  • Deliver proposed courses in the teaching mode indicated by the Office of the Registrar (in-person, bi-modal, hybrid or online; online courses will be fully online synchronous live).
  • Teach courses in English.
  • Contribute to managing a teaching load of seven courses (21 credits) per academic year as part of the five-year contract and eventual open-ended appointment.
