Position Summary
The Controller manages the accounting, payroll, accounts payable and accounts receivable functions within the organization. This role is responsible for directing the Accounting Team to compile, manage and analyze financial statements and implement finance and accounting policies and procedures. The Controller will provide the executive leadership with accurate financial statements and data necessary for budgetary and financial decision making.
Essential Responsibilities
- Embrace and operate within the core values.
- Manage the overall accuracy and productivity of day-to-day activities of accounts payable, accounts receivable, treasury accounting, customer credits and collections, fixed asset records, general ledger accounting, cost accounting and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements.
- Safeguard assets and assure accurate and timely recording of all transactions by developing and implementing policies and procedures, disciplines of internal audits, controls and checks across all departments.
- Maintain internal controls and safeguards for receipt of revenue, costs, and program budgets and actual expenditures.
- Coordinate all audit activity.
- Analyze financial data and present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner; clearly communicate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements; monitor progress and changes and keep senior leadership abreast of financial status.
- Conduct financial annotations from financial statements and review with CFO to assist in strategic financial planning.
- An ideal Controller would have a wide range of experience in finance and accounting functions. To understand and solve issues in the department, one should have a strong operationalbackground, superior analytical skills, attention to detail and a strong communicator.
- The Controller should be able to identify misstatements, margins of error, and profitability with the CFO. They should also be able to support the CFO in finding solutions and strategies that can help with the company’s growth.
- The Controller directs the Accounting Team to produce accurate and efficient financial statements and reports to present to the leadership team. The Controller oversees finance and accounting transactions, general ledger accounting, cost accounting, budgets and treasury accounting.
- The Controller should be a good culture fit for the company. The company’s operations are based off its core values and these values should shine through this individual’s work ethics as well as personal attributes.
- Co-ordinate with FP&A team to improve operational financial understanding.
- Support accounting team with dynamic leadership that creates an environment of trust and productivity.
- Collaborate with CFO to maximize technology to help scale business for future growth.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s in accounting or finance, or equivalent work experience
- MBA, MFP, MAcc, MSA, MPAC, CMA, CPA preferred
- 10+ years of related work experience
Physical Demands:
- Required to sit, stand, walk; talk and hear; and ability to touch and handle tools and/or controls
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
- Noise level is typically moderate
