Requirements
  • A high school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) credential is required.
  • Previous experience in a patient care setting is preferred.
  • An active Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) state license is required upon hire.
  • The ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written form is required.
  • The ability to present information effectively and respond to questions from physicians, patients, family members, and employees is required.
Responsibilities
  • Obtain and accurately record patients’ vital signs.
  • Document components of patients’ medical histories.
  • Communicate openly and appropriately with patients, visitors, and staff.
  • Participate in in-office procedures under the direction and supervision of a licensed healthcare provider.
  • Perform diagnostic Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA)-waived testing.
  • Perform venipuncture to obtain blood for laboratory testing.
  • Make prescription call-backs within the scope of practice.
  • Prepare patients’ charts with pertinent clinical information.
  • Maintain supply inventory and keep patient examination rooms stocked.
  • Adhere to Albany Medical Center’s regulatory compliance requirements.
