Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited Practical Nursing education program.
  • Current Illinois Licensed Practical Nurse licensure.
  • Must obtain Basic Life Support certification within 30 days of hire and maintain it throughout employment.
Responsibilities
  • Provide professional nursing under supervision within an assigned unit, department, or specialty area using the nursing process.
  • Ensure optimal patient care using the nursing process under the direction of a registered nurse or physician.
  • Maintain patient records and document the patient’s medical and nursing care, including use of computer systems as necessary.
  • Administer and control narcotics, medications, and intravenous therapies in accordance with the Licensed Practical Nurse Nurse Practice Act.
  • Assist with assessing and planning patient and family education and discharge needs.
  • Recognize and respond appropriately to emergency situations.
  • Collaborate with the registered nurse or physician in problem-solving, including initiating, delegating, and evaluating patient care team functions.
  • Promote an environment conducive to professional practice by functioning as a role model and resource for other patient services team members.
  • Practice nursing competencies based on current scientific knowledge.
