Requirements
  • Must be able to float between all the units of two approved pods.
  • A diploma or Associate's degree in nursing is required; equivalent education and experience may satisfy the requirement.
  • Current Oklahoma Registered Nurse license is required.
  • Basic Life Support and National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale certification are required.
  • For the Intermediate Care pod, Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Basic EKG interpretation certification are required within six months of hire.
  • All required Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, and National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale certifications must be maintained through retraining for the duration of employment.
  • Med/Surg Pod assignments require one year of experience in an equivalent area.
  • Intermediate Care Pod assignments require one year of Intermediate Care or equivalent experience.
  • Experience must include sufficient orientation to and demonstrated annual competencies for basic and advanced hemodynamics and pacemakers.
Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with other health professionals.
  • Assess and reassess patients' healthcare needs according to age group and patient condition.
  • Analyze assessment data to determine nursing diagnoses and expected outcomes.
  • Establish goals and priorities of care and plan care strategies.
  • Implement and coordinate nursing interventions using professional judgment and current practice standards, rules, regulations, and policy.
  • Delegate tasks safely.
  • Provide safe direct and indirect nursing care.
  • Evaluate patient responses and outcomes using critical thinking and evidence-based knowledge.
  • Assess or manage patient care and provide direct patient care in intermediate-care and medical/surgical settings.
  • Perform additional nursing functions in accordance with knowledge and skills acquired beyond basic nursing preparation.
  • Coordinate with patients, families, and other healthcare providers as appropriate.
  • Evaluate care and support patient discharge.
