Requirements
  • A university degree, college diploma, or certificate in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, or another related field.
  • A minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience working in corporate communications, public affairs, or public relations.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, including the ability to work with diverse individuals and groups ranging from frontline staff to management and senior teams.
  • Good judgement and discretion.
  • The ability to manage time effectively and work on several projects simultaneously.
  • The ability to research projects extensively.
  • Experience using data to support decision-making and strategic communications advice.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Analysis and problem-assessment skills.
  • The ability to demonstrate leadership through critical thinking when counselling senior management.
  • Regular and reliable attendance.
  • The ability to perform all necessary bona fide duties for the position and the duties outlined in the Job Demands Analysis.

Responsibilities
  • Monitor external communications trends in healthcare, particularly issues affecting hospitals, to align communication strategies with the organization's strategic goals.
  • Own communications for key priority projects at Southlake.
  • Manage assigned communications projects, provide strategic advice, create and implement strategic plans, and evaluate plan effectiveness using relevant data analytics.
  • Position and promote the Southlake brand while supporting organizational priorities.
  • Collaborate with department colleagues to implement integrated campaigns involving internal and external communications, social media, and community stakeholder engagement.
  • Implement government-relations and social-media strategies to advance organizational priorities.
  • Support stakeholder and government relations through research and tracking.
  • Develop communication plans for strategic organization-wide initiatives, hospital department programs, and key strategic initiatives.
  • Develop internal and external written content, including articles, media stories, collateral, web content, and social-media content.
  • Use data analytics to support strategic communications advice and measure the effectiveness of communications strategies.
  • Adhere to the duties of workers under Section 28 of the OH&S Act and Southlake's occupational health and safety policies and procedures.
Desired Qualifications
  • Healthcare, media-relations, and government-relations experience are considered assets.
  • Innovation and willingness to learn.
