Requirements
  • Three years of full-time paid professional structural engineering experience.
  • A bachelor's degree in structural engineering, or a bachelor's degree in civil engineering with specialization in structural engineering courses.
Responsibilities
  • Prepare, analyze, and review structural design plans, specifications, estimates, and reports for compliance with federal, state, and local agency guidelines.
  • Perform contract administration by reviewing structural services required from engineering consultants and architects and making revisions and recommendations.
  • Prepare structural design plans and specifications, quality assurance plans, conceptual and detailed cost estimates, and reports for construction, maintenance, and operation of structures using concrete, structural steel, timber, masonry, metal, and related materials.
  • Review project status, initiate changes, and provide advice and assistance to structural designers and other engineering and design staff.
  • Review structural plans and specifications, design and mathematical calculations, and cost and expenditure requirements for alternate construction methods.
  • Review completed structural work for conformance to recognized standards, feasibility of construction, completeness, and accuracy.
  • Design and lay out foundation, floor, wall, and roof framing plans for major building structures.
  • Make recommendations to contractors, architects, engineers, and construction inspectors regarding structural issues during construction.
  • Analyze environmental impact reports, negative declarations, and soils test data to make recommendations for foundation design.
  • Prepare feasibility reports and preliminary designs for proposed structures and facilities under construction.
  • Perform site investigations and prepare scoping reports and recommendations.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with school building construction.
  • Professional Engineer certification recognized by the State of California Board of Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors, and Geologists.
