Requirements
  • A Bachelor of Science or Master of Science degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or Control Systems Engineering.
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Strong background in automation design involving mechanical, electrical, and software integration.
  • Experience with robotic systems, automated handlers, or precision motion- and vision-based automation.
  • Familiarity with high-mix, low-to-medium-volume manufacturing environments.
  • Proficiency with computer-aided design; SolidWorks is preferred.
  • Experience with controls programming using programmable logic controllers, microcontrollers in C or C++, or equivalent.
  • Data collection and analysis skills using Excel, JMP, or Python.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams and vendor collaborations.
  • Ability to balance hands-on design, build, and debugging with strategic project leadership.
  • Must be a United States citizen or United States permanent resident.
  • Ability and willingness to comply with corporate safety initiatives and the company Code of Conduct.
Responsibilities
  • Define, design, and validate standardized robotic test handlers adaptable across multiple radio frequency product lines.
  • Drive new handler integrations and improvements, and document first-pass yield, overall equipment effectiveness, and operator experience metrics.
  • Collaborate with global teams in Brooklyn, Florida, India, and Malaysia to ensure alignment, backup-site readiness, and standardized deployment.
  • Analyze test and assembly processes to identify automation candidates based on capacity, efficiency, and process-control needs.
  • Develop scalable, modular automated-handler designs incorporating mechanical, electrical, vision, and control systems.
  • Specify and integrate vision, position, and presence sensors; robotic arms; conveyors; and fixturing for precision radio frequency component handling.
  • Incorporate grounding, thermal, high-frequency probing, and shielding requirements into radio frequency test systems.
  • Prepare proposals, resource and budget estimates, and project plans for automation initiatives.
  • Lead cross-functional reviews and maintain stakeholder communication from concept through qualification.
  • Manage vendor engagement, procurement, system build, and qualification of handler systems.
  • Create system specifications, qualification and buy-off plans, and operation and maintenance procedures.
  • Train users and support personnel on deployed automation platforms.
  • Provide sustaining engineering support for deployed handler systems.
  • Drive continuous improvement in throughput, first-pass yield, reliability, and maintainability.
  • Track and implement engineering changes and upgrades into future designs.
  • Stay current with emerging automation technologies, including vision, robotics, motion systems, and artificial-intelligence-driven inspection, and evaluate them for company applications.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with automated inspection systems such as automated optical inspection, Keyence, or Cognex vision.
  • Knowledge of radio frequency test process requirements and challenges.
  • Experience with conveyor and robot integration, pneumatic actuators, and precision fixturing.
  • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing, overall equipment effectiveness analysis, and return-on-investment calculations.
  • Exposure to manufacturing enterprise resource planning and product lifecycle management systems, including SAP and Arena PLM.
  • Occasional travel, including some overnight travel, as required.

Mini-Circuits launches wideband digital step attenuator from 0.1 to 24 GHz. Mini-Circuits has introduced the ZX76-24G-30-S+, a 50 ohm coaxial solid-state digital step attenuator designed for wideband RF applications spanning 0.1 to 24 GHz. Engineered for precision and flexibility, the attenuator offers programmable attenuation from 0 to 31.5 dB in 0.5 dB steps, providing fine control over signal levels across a wide frequency range. The ZX76-24G-30-S+ features a 6-bit parallel control interface that requires no external clock and supports dual (+3.3 V / -3.0 V) or single-supply operation (+3.3 V to +5.4 V). Built for durability in demanding environments, it delivers high input IP3 performance of +50 dBm, good return loss (typical 15 dB), and glitch-free attenuation transitions, making it well-suited for test instrumentation, communication infrastructure, and defense applications such as radar, EW, ECM, and SATCOM systems. The device's robust design also ensures immunity to latch-up and stable operation from 0°C to +50°C, while supporting input power levels up to +22 dBm. It operates with an insertion loss as low as 3 dB (typically) up to 13 GHz and 4.5 dB (typically) up to 24 GHz. To simplify integration, Mini-Circuits includes a CBL-5FT-MPD+ pigtail control cable, featuring stripped wire ends and a pre-mounted connector for easy interface with the attenuator's 10-pin digital control port.
