Our ideal candidate for this role will be a skilled and experienced leader with an ability to balance oversight of the technical delivery of a variety of Building Engineering projects with the operational requirements associated with running a well-established, successful team within a large organization. Disciplines falling within this group include Structures, Facades, MEP and other building services, and specialisms such as sustainability. This is an expanding group covering a broad scope of building engineering services for our clients and requires a Business Group Leader that can effectively leverage their own extensive industry experience along with the delivery teams’ skills and capabilities to deliver a technically strong and commercially competitive offering to our clients.
You will have strong industry connections and be able to develop and grow GHD’s presence and market share in Building Engineering. You must have a commitment to further enhancing strong technical authority with a client-led mindset.
This role will be closely supported by Senior Technical Directors for specific groupings of disciplines that will work alongside the BGL with a strong technical and delivery focus, providing additional leadership. The BGL and Senior Technical Directors will work in collaboration to achieve delivery excellence, team development and to define resourcing requirements.

- Drive a safety culture throughout the business and across our projects.
- Lead, manage and grow our Building Engineering Group
- Manage Business Group performance, people, and resources.
- Develop and achieve our business plan objectives and targets aligned with GHD’s Make It Real strategy.
- Establish and maintain effective relationships with government and private sector clients and across GHD.
- Build a strong business development and winning work culture, with effective positioning and pursuit of large and strategic opportunities and expanding GHD's presence and market share.
- Lead the commercial direction on significant projects, identifying and creating business opportunities and effectively managing risks.
- Be accountable for macro level performance of the business group, reporting to the Operations Manager on KPIs including, but not limited to, Working Capital Days, Utilization, FTEs, Backlog, Variances and Profitability.
- Develop and, in collaboration with the Senior Technical Directors, mentor a talented team of engineers and technical specialists.

- A relevant Engineering degree supported by solid relevant industry and consulting experience in Property & Buildings/Building Engineering.
- Commercially astute with strong project delivery experience, including providing support to Project Directors and Project Managers to deliver outstanding client experiences coupled with both technical and commercial performance on projects.
- Passionately innovative, with a drive to continuously evolve the way we work to deliver successful outcomes for our clients.
- High level market awareness and business development skills with a strong focus on client engagement and ideally a well-established network of relationships across potential clients in the UAE.
- You are a hardworking, supportive and motivating leader able to get the best out of their team and comfortable with mentoring and technical supervisory responsibilities.
