Requirements
- Four years of experience involving conduit, cable tray, electrical buildings with gear from 120 volts to 25 kilovolts, and cable pulls and terminations for instrumentation from 600 volts to 25 kilovolts.
- Three years of experience as an Industrial Electrical Foreman, including one year of experience as a General Foreman.
- Broad working knowledge of the assigned craft and extensive personal experience performing the trade.
- Knowledge of safety procedures and the ability to enforce safety policies.
- Ability to read and visualize objects from blueprints and maintain precise attention to detail.
- Ability to coordinate with other crafts on simultaneous operations.
- OSHA 30 certification.
- Ability to pass a drug test required by the company's and Department of Transportation's anti-drug program.
- Ability to successfully complete company safety training.
- Ability to perform the physical requirements, including lifting up to 50 pounds, climbing 30-foot ladders, working at heights of at least 20 feet, maintaining balance on catwalks and narrow workspaces, and standing for long periods.
- Ability to work 60 or more hours each week and in awkward, confining, high, noisy, dirty, outdoor, dusty, fume-filled, and near-freezing environments.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and direct the activities of multiple Foremen or craft personnel on a project.
- Ensure construction and maintenance tasks are completed in a timely, safe, and cost-efficient manner.
- Direct and coordinate activities of various trade groups and provide overall management oversight for construction project phases when serving as the company's lead site representative.
- Coordinate workers, materials, and equipment and ensure project specifications are followed.
- Ensure work progresses according to schedule and that materials and equipment arrive on time.
- Prevent interference among the activities of various workers.
- Confer with supervisory and engineering personnel, inspectors, and suppliers to resolve construction problems and improve construction methods.
- Inspect work in progress for compliance with specifications and construction schedules.
- Prepare or receive reports on progress, materials, equipment, and costs, and adjust work schedules as needed.
- Promote safety awareness, enforce safety policies, and assume overall job-site safety accountability when required.
- Develop effective work plans, assign and instruct foremen and work crews, and supervise their work.
- Motivate subordinates to complete tasks safely, skillfully, efficiently, and within the project schedule.
- Communicate with the Superintendent or Project Manager about progress and problems.
- Resolve scheduling problems with employees and customer representatives, determine work priorities, and assess project requirements affecting scheduling.
- Estimate labor, materials, and equipment needed for work assignments.
- Inspect and test, or supervise inspection and testing of, completed work for compliance with drawings, specifications, and quality-control procedures.
- Prepare daily progress reports, maintain records and files, and maintain inventory of assigned materials.
- Recommend promotion or demotion of subordinates and identify training needs.
- Discipline subordinates, including termination when warranted, after discussing disciplinary actions with management.
- Work in operating facilities while following applicable safety policies and procedures.
- Attend safety meetings and assigned training classes and perform related duties as required.
