Requirements
  • Education: Undergraduate Degree
  • Experience: Three (3) years’ related experience
  • Demonstrates advanced knowledge of principles, concepts, and theories in own discipline, and has extensive knowledge of principles and concepts in other functions.
  • Demonstrates advanced business knowledge and analyses the impact of emerging industry trends.
  • Able to advise senior management on issues as they pertain to larger organizational issues/business initiatives.
  • Experience with Ellucian products strongly desired, specifically Banner and Degreeworks. Experience performing Banner upgrades and provisioning application servers and environments.
  • Experience configuring, maintaining and upgrading web applications and their underlying infrastructure using Apache, IIS, and Tomcat.
  • Installing and configuring database clients and drivers.
  • Experience supporting other applications including but not limited to: Oracle Forms, Oracle Reports applications, Crystal Reports, Hyperion SQR Reporting, Groovy/Grails
  • GIT source management software
  • Ansible scripting for automated deployment.
  • EMC Documentum including knowledge of fundamentals and DQL
  • Sharepoint
  • Wordpress and/or Drupal
  • uPrint
  • Active directory, shibboleth, CAS (Central Authentication Service) or other authentication methods
  • F5 BigIP Load balancer
  • Knowledge of French and English: McGill University is an English-language university where day to day duties may require English communication both verbally and in writing. The level of English required for this position has been assessed at a level # 3 on a scale of 0-4.
Responsibilities
  • Formulate and define system scope and objectives for assigned projects.
  • Identify issues and propose solutions to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Under general supervision, develop and/or modify procedures to solve complex problems related to computer equipment capacity, limitations, and operating time that promote the desired results.
  • Program design, coding, testing, debugging, and documentation, as well as quality assurance review.
  • Ensure stability, integrity and efficient operation of information systems that support core organizational functions and monitors, maintains, supports and optimizes all application and system components for one or more applications/services.
  • Gauge effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems, develop and implement strategies for improving or further leveraging systems/services.
  • Under general supervision, propose and create system design models, specifications, diagrams and charts to provide operational requirements perspective to system programming and development teams.
  • Assist with server and security audits, operational procedures and recovery processes in accordance with the company's disaster and business continuity strategies.
  • Work with executive team members, decision makers and stakeholders to define operational business requirements and systems goals, and to identify and resolve operational issues
  • Coordinate and perform in-depth tests, including end-user reviews of operational parameters for new and updated systems/services
  • Monitor and test system performance. Prepare and present system performance statistics and reporting.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
