Requirements
  • A minimum of a high school diploma.
  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Human Services or a related field is preferred.
  • Applicants without the CASAC credential must have a strong interest in addiction treatment and be willing to receive training and become credentialed as a CASAC.
  • Applicants with the CASAC credential must have at least one year of experience working with individuals with substance use disorders.
  • Applicants with the CASAC credential must have training and experience in trauma-informed care, co-occurring disorders, and relevant privacy and confidentiality laws.
  • Applicants without the CASAC credential must have knowledge of, or willingness to learn about, trauma-informed care, co-occurring disorders, and client confidentiality and privacy laws.
  • Applicants must have a genuine interest in helping others recover from addiction.
  • Applicants must remain calm in tough situations and be able to offer steady support.
  • Applicants must be well-organized and dependable.
Responsibilities
  • Develop a treatment plan in concert with the Program Director or Clinical Supervisor that reflects the physical, medical, cognitive, and psychosocial needs and specific diagnosis of patients in the specialized track.
  • Use a strengths-based and trauma-informed approach to work collaboratively with patients and internal and external treatment team members to support patients in treatment and recovery.
  • Provide clinical consultation to referral resources, mentors, family members, and others to support patients in recovery.
  • Work with patients to engage them in decision-making and help them understand the benefits of assessment and accessing the appropriate level of care.
  • Collect and review referral information upon assignment of patients, consult with others as needed, and coordinate services and patient interview scheduling.
  • Make referrals to appropriate programs and agencies based on assessments to help patients access the level of care that best meets their treatment needs.
  • Assist patients with scheduling an admission or first appointment at the program or facility to which they are referred.
  • Monitor patient access to and involvement with treatment and other providers to address barriers to treatment and recovery.
  • Manage a caseload of patients with substance use disorders.
  • Provide individual counseling and facilitate or co-facilitate therapeutic groups.
  • Conduct assessments, screenings, intake, orientation, psychoeducation, and referrals.
  • Complete sample swabs and participate in crisis intervention when needed.
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date documentation.
  • Collaborate with internal and external teams to coordinate care and help patients access appropriate levels of treatment.
