Requirements
  • Current licensure as a Licensed Master Social Worker or Licensed Mental Health Counselor; a limited permit may be considered.
  • A Master's degree in social work or an equivalent degree.
  • Knowledge of emotional and behavioral health, mental health, and diagnostic classification.
  • Strong expertise in strengths-based, solution-focused, and family-centered practice.
  • Knowledge of guidelines, policies, and regulations relating to child welfare, safety, permanency, and well-being.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team while assisting individuals of diverse ethnicities, backgrounds, ages, and sexual preferences.
Responsibilities
  • Deliver and coordinate services for homeless clients.
  • Interface with New York City Department of Homeless Services staff, shelter providers, and relevant community-based organizations to enhance care and service coordination.
  • Complete psychosocial assessments for clients impacted by multiple systems.
  • Assess clients' needs and facilitate appropriate linkages to community-based services.
  • Work within a crisis-driven environment using knowledge of substance abuse and addiction, domestic violence, trauma, and mental health conditions.
Desired Qualifications
  • Bilingual ability is preferred but not required.

S:US provides services and advocacy for New Yorkers facing homelessness, intellectual/developmental disabilities, behavioral health and addiction challenges, poverty, criminal justice involvement, and trauma. It supports tens of thousands of individuals and families in New York City and Long Island with about 1,800 staff. The organization offers tailored direct services such as housing assistance, health and behavioral supports, case management, and community programs to help clients achieve stability and long-term well-being. Its goal is to empower underserved New Yorkers to lead lives of purpose, improve neighborhoods, and break the cycle of poverty for current and future generations.
