Requirements
  • Graduate of accredited Physician Assistant program or Nurse Practitioner program; current licensure as a physician assistant or nurse practitioner in the state of employment (Massachusetts)
  • National certification by an approved credentialing body (e.g., NCCPA)
  • BLS and ACLS certification required
  • Cardiology and/or cardiothoracic surgery experience strongly preferred
  • Strong clinical judgment and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative
Responsibilities
  • Perform comprehensive cardiovascular assessments
  • Provide pre- and post-operative care for invasive cardiology patients (Interventional and electrophysiology)
  • Manage patients in post-anesthesia care unit (PACU), catheterization laboratory, electrophysiology laboratory, and post-procedure units
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests
  • Develop treatment plans with cardiologists and surgeons
  • Serve as lead provider and coordinator for structural heart program (transcatheter aortic valve replacement, Watchman, patent foramen ovale)
  • Educate patients and families; ensure accurate electronic health record documentation
  • Perform thorough patient assessments including histories and physical examinations
  • Provide pre- and post-procedural or surgical care across various settings
  • Monitor and manage patients in procedural areas and recovery units
  • Collaborate with physicians and other providers to develop and implement individualized care plans
  • Serve as a point of contact for patients, families, and caregivers; ensure education and coordination throughout the continuum of care
  • Document clinical findings and treatment plans accurately in the electronic health record
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and support patient care protocols
  • May include evening, weekend, holiday, or on-call responsibilities depending on clinical needs
  • Exposure to high-acuity patient populations and critical care scenarios
