  • PhD in biochemistry, biophysics, or a related field
  • Strong lab experience, including fluorescence microscopy, biochemistry, protein engineering and molecular biology techniques
  • Experience with development of bespoke fluorescence microscopy assays
  • Familiarity with physics concepts like electromagnetism
  • Affinity for modifying or building custom software and hardware.
  • Proficiency with a programming language
  • Experience with experiments in mice, or a strong desire to learn
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Capacity to work independently, manage projects effectively, and collaborate seamlessly within a multidisciplinary team
Responsibilities
  • Lead the development of a magnetogenetic tool, which will likely require creating libraries and implementing screens for enhanced protein conformational changes triggered by magnetic fields, as well as demonstrating magnetic field control of a biological process in cells using magnets
  • Collaborate with other researchers in the lab to develop and apply the new tools, beginning in cell culture and, with success, extending to mice
  • Communicate and collaborate with a diverse group of subject matter experts spanning microscopy, biology, and protein engineering
  • Communicate research findings and present the results at conferences and seminars
