Responsibilities
  • Strategy & Business Planning: Contribute to and influence the category’s business plan and growth strategy. This includes analyzing market opportunities and defining strategies that drive revenue growth and profitability for the consumer product portfolio. The Category Manager leads product positioning and pricing strategy to ensure a competitive advantage in the market, and develops both long-term vision and short-term action plans for the category.
  • Product Line Ownership: Manage the product portfolio end-to-end, holding P&L responsibility and quota for a significant segment of the product range. You will oversee product lifecycle activities such as new product introductions, assortment planning, and phase-outs, ensuring the lineup meets local market needs. Full product line and quota accountability means taking ownership of revenue, unit volume, and margin targets for your category.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams – including marketing, sales, finance (and supply chain as needed) – to ensure seamless execution of category plans and initiatives. This involves coordinating marketing campaigns, sales programs, and pricing/promotional activities, and making sure that all departments are aligned with the category strategy. You will often lead or participate in cross-functional go-to-market teams to drive daily execution of marketing, operational, and financial activities.
  • Performance Monitoring & Optimization: Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and sales results for the category, and use these metrics to identify trends and areas for improvement. Regularly review category sales performance, market share, inventory levels, and profitability. When performance gaps or opportunities are identified, you will develop and implement corrective actions or improvement plans. This data-driven approach ensures that business decisions are grounded in metrics and insights.
  • Customer Insight & Market Feedback: Gather and analyze customer feedback and market data to understand consumer needs, preferences, and pain points. By tracking customer insights and competitive dynamics, the Category Manager identifies actionable improvements to products or go-to-market strategies.
  • Market Analysis & Product Marketing: Conduct market analysis and oversee marketing engagement for the category. Stay informed on market trends, competitor offerings, and emerging consumer demands. Use this knowledge to guide pricing, promotions, and channel programs that support the category’s financial objectives. Plan and execute product launches and marketing initiatives, tailoring messaging and value propositions to the local market.
  • Channel Partner Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with channel partners and the sales force. Act as the primary category representative in interactions with retail partners, distributors, and the field sales team. Provide partners and sales reps with product training, sales tools, and actionable insights to help them effectively sell the products. Represent the category in internal sales meetings and external partner meetings, ensuring that partner feedback is heard and that the category’s strategy is well communicated.
  • External Vendor Collaboration: Participate in partnerships with external IT vendors and strategic allies when relevant. Coordinate with global product divisions or external technology partners on co-marketing initiatives or bundle offerings. Engage with external stakeholders to ensure the category leverages resources and partnership opportunities to drive business growth.
  • Continuous Improvement: Demonstrate initiative in improving category operations and processes. This could involve streamlining forecasting methods, improving the accuracy of business reports, or suggesting more efficient ways to execute category programs. Exercise independent judgment within your area and propose innovative solutions that enhance category performance and team efficiency.
Desired Qualifications
  • Proven track record in category management or a closely related area; experience managing a product portfolio’s performance in consumer electronics or FMCG; responsibility for revenue and margin outcomes; growing market share or launching new products that drove significant sales
  • Experience working with channel partners or external vendors; familiarity with partner ecosystems and partner management; coordinating joint promotions with retailers or negotiating vendor support for marketing funds
  • Advanced degree such as MBA or relevant master’s degree; MBA with focus on marketing or strategy beneficial
  • Certification or training in category management principles, data analytics, or project management (e.g. CPM) would be advantageous; demonstrated leadership in a matrix environment or mentoring junior team members

Bank of America warns HP stock faces 40% downside despite PC market share recovery

Bank of America analyst Wamsi Mohan maintained an Underperform rating on HP Inc. with an $18 price target, implying roughly 40% downside from the current share price. HP reports fiscal third-quarter earnings on 26 August. The bank expects HP's Personal Systems revenue to rise about 8% year over year in the quarter, helped by pricing and market-share recovery. Preliminary data showed HP regaining worldwide PC share in the second calendar quarter after losing ground earlier. However, BofA warns that margin pressure could intensify. The bank forecasts Personal Systems operating margin falling to 4.3% in fiscal Q3 and 3.9% in Q4. Higher memory costs and pricing that lags rising component costs are expected to weigh on profitability before conditions improve in fiscal 2027.

HP Print AI features land in New Zealand.

HP Print AI features land in New Zealand. HP Inc. today announced the availability of HP Print AI in New Zealand, bringing industry-first intelligent AI print experiences to help fix one of the most common frustrations in everyday printing: pages that do not come out the way people expect. From online articles and travel information to recipes and how-to guides, most everyday print jobs start today with content from the web. But what looks clear on screen can still result in awkward spacing, poor image sizing or unnecessary pages that lead to reprints. HP Print AI is designed to reduce that trial-and-error process, helping customers get closer to the page they intended to print the first time. The launch also gives customers a more future-ready choice when buying a new printer. Rather than choosing a device built only around traditional print workflows, customers can select new HP printers with AI-enabled features designed to improve everyday printing now and support smarter print experiences as customer needs continue to change. More than half of all print jobs in homes and offices today are from the web, including online articles, travel details, recipes and how-to guides. This often requires manual reformatting, removing ads and reprinting - a frustrating experience for customers. HP's Precise Print helps remove trial and error from printing content from the web. It automatically cleans up unwanted ads, awkward spacing and poor image sizing before printing, helping customers produce cleaner, more readable pages with fewer adjustments and reprints. HP Print AI will also simplify and tailor support for individual customers. From the moment a customer turns their printer on, intelligent technology anticipates their needs - walking through each step of setup. HP Print AI leverages natural language and contextual awareness, remembering users' preferences and past questions, so customers receive immediate and customised support whenever they need it. For the commercial segment, HP has announced the expanded availability of HP Scan AI Enhanced. This cloud- based, AI-driven solution automatically recognises the type of documents being scanned and extracts key information based on the customer's specific business needs. By reducing manual steps and data entry, this solution saves time and money for SMB and enterprise customers. For instance, a major retail group with 300 locations in Italy saw an 80% reduction in labour costs after implementing HP Scan AI Enhanced in its delivery and inventory workflow. HP Print AI is available now with newly activated compatible HP devices, including the HP DeskJet 2900 series, HP ENVY 6100/6500, ENVY Inspire and ENVY Photo 7200 and 7900 series, HP Smart Tank 5100/6000/7000/7300/ 7600 and 210 series and the HP OfficeJet Pro 8100/9100 and 9700 series. HP Print AI is available in U.S. English, U.K. English, Spanish, German, French, Portuguese, and Italian, and requires an HP AI-capable printer, HP app and Windows 11 for setup.

HP launches Print AI in New Zealand for home printers.

HP launches Print AI in New Zealand for home printers. Wed, 19th Aug 2026 (Today) HP has launched HP Print AI in New Zealand. The software is available on selected newly activated printers for home and office users. The rollout covers compatible models in the HP DeskJet, Envy, OfficeJet Pro, Smart Tank and LaserJet ranges. The product targets a familiar printing problem: web documents that look acceptable on screen but print with poor spacing, badly sized images or extra pages. Many users still need to reformat pages manually, remove adverts or make several attempts before getting the result they want. A central feature, Precise Print, automatically removes unwanted adverts, awkward spacing and poor image sizing before printing, with the aim of producing cleaner pages and reducing the need for reprints. HP is positioning the launch around everyday web-based print jobs such as articles, travel information, recipes and guides. More than half of print jobs in homes and offices now originate from web content, the company said, making formatting issues a common source of wasted paper, ink and time. "Printing has always been part of how people work, learn and create, but the way we find and use information has changed," said Paul Gracey, Vice President and Head of Greater Asia Print Category at HP. "HP Print AI helps solve those everyday frustrations now, while giving customers a printer that is ready for what comes next." Alongside page formatting, HP is adding more tailored support functions through the same AI approach. The system can guide customers through printer setup, use natural language and draw on contextual awareness to respond to questions based on previous interactions and user preferences. Business use For commercial customers, HP is also expanding the availability of HP Scan AI Enhanced. The cloud-based document scanning tool is designed to identify document types automatically and extract key information according to a customer's workflow requirements. The product is aimed at reducing manual data entry for small and medium-sized businesses as well as larger organisations. HP cited a retail group in Italy with 300 locations that cut labour costs by 80% after introducing the scanning system into delivery and inventory processes. The New Zealand launch of HP Print AI reflects a broader push by technology suppliers to add AI features to established hardware categories rather than limit them to standalone software tools. In printing, where consumer and office devices are often chosen for reliability and running costs, suppliers are also trying to address routine user complaints that have remained largely unchanged for years. The software is available now in U.S. English, U.K. English, Spanish, German, French, Portuguese and Italian. Setup requires an AI-capable HP printer, the HP app and Windows 11. Compatible devices listed by HP include the HP DeskJet 2900 series; HP Envy 6100 and 6500; Envy Inspire; Envy Photo 7200 and 7900 series; HP Smart Tank 5100, 6000, 7000, 7300, 7600 and 210 series; and HP OfficeJet Pro 8100, 9100 and 9700 series. The launch also gives buyers an AI-enabled option when choosing a new printer, as HP moves print products beyond traditional workflows and towards more automated support and document handling.
