What You’ll Do
Samsung Semiconductor, Inc. in San Diego is searching for a cellular Modem Systems engineers with experience in signal processing and algorithms.
You will join a team conducting research and development on next generation wireless systems (5G and beyond) and work on the system design, implementation, and verification of modem/RFIC chips and platforms.
RF systems engineers in our team are innovative, driven, detail-oriented and have been responsible for design and development of Samsung modem chipsets that have been commercialized in millions of smart devices including Samsung Galaxy smartphones and tablets.
Location: Hybrid, working onsite at our San Diego, CA office 3 days a week, with the flexibility to work remotely the remainder of your time.

- Research new wireless communication system design for 5G FR1/FR2 mainly covering RF domain with associated digital signal processing.
- Improve competitiveness of Samsung RFIC and modem products with advances in RF systems aspects such as crest factor reduction, envelope tracking, digital pre-distortion etc.
- Develop MATLAB and C/C++ simulators and evaluate and predict real-world system performance.
- Work closely with hardware, software and platform engineers to develop an implementation that meets system requirements.
- Produce key intellectual property for 5G Antenna/RF-Modem system.
What You Bring
- Bachelors with 5+ years of relevant industry experience, or Masters with 3+ years or PhD with 0 years in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related field preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience in design of cellular RF systems and algorithms for impairment compensation, efficiency and performance improvement of actual hardware.
- Expertise in communication theory, signal processing, estimation theory, random processes, optimization and applied mathematics.
- Excellent communication, teamwork and presentation skills.
- C/C++, Python, and MATLAB coding skills.
- RF systems algorithm development experience such as digital pre-distortion, impairment compensation, efficiency improvement with AI/ML is a plus.

Within the base pay range, individual rates depend on a number of factors—including the role’s function and location as well as the individual’s knowledge, skills, experience, education and training. This is part of our comprehensive compensation package with annual bonus eligibility and generous benefits to help you live life well
