The opportunity:
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced General Liability Underwriter to join our new International Casualty team. This role involves implementing underwriting strategies, championing continuous improvements, and developing strong relationships with brokers and clients. You will work closely with the class head, senior underwriters, and other parts of the business to manage our portfolio and seek new business opportunities.
What you’ll be doing:
- Implement underwriting strategies and monitor progress
- Drive continuous improvements in processes and data management
- Demonstrate and advocate for our underwriting approach
- Contribute to the team’s underwriting strategy
- Attend broker and client meetings, representing Markel as required
- Develop and maintain strong broker relationships
- Apply appropriate underwriting and risk management practices
- Provide underwriting support to overseas offices and handle referral approvals
- Assist with portfolio management and project work
