Requirements
  • A Bachelor's Degree and three years of related professional or managerial work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities
  • Advise and guide faculty and administrators seeking external funding through proposal preparation and submission, ensuring proposals meet sponsor, regulatory, University, School, Federal, and State requirements and deadlines.
  • Cultivate and maintain working partnerships and effective communication with faculty, Principal Investigators, sponsors, OSP, and other stakeholders, including guiding faculty and staff through sponsor requirement changes.
  • Support the development and continuous improvement of grants management processes by reviewing client interactions, current processes, and submission quality, and recommending and implementing changes.
  • Provide direction, training, and assistance to Principal Investigators and department staff on proposal development, budgeting, sponsor terms and policies, and University policies and procedures.
  • Obtain necessary clearances before authorization for submission and facilitate the transfer of grants and contracts when Principal Investigators start at Yale.
  • Review and prepare grant and contract proposals, consult with managerial staff on policy exceptions, and ensure required information is entered into appropriate data systems.
  • Review proposal solicitations and award-document terms and conditions; collaborate with OSP to negotiate complex or non-standard proposals and facilitate subcontracts, clinical trials, and State agreements.
  • Approve and submit grant proposals in accordance with delegated authority.
  • Analyze complex information from funding opportunity announcements, funding-interest matches, and submission procedures to transmit proposals to OSP with a high first-pass rate.
  • Obtain and communicate information about sponsors' electronic research processes and procedures.
  • Remain current on laws, regulations, and external and internal policies governing grants and contracts, and ensure key personnel comply with regulatory, University, and training mandates.
  • Partner with OSP and sponsors on proposal-submission matters.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • Knowledge of Yale policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, database administration, electronic proposal systems, and related software.
  • Working knowledge of federal, state, and sponsor regulations and guidelines for contract and grant administration.
  • Extensive knowledge of grant and contract methods and procedures.
