Requirements
  • Have a valid driver's license.
  • Maintain eRail certification credentials as required by the railroad.
  • Work in all outdoor conditions, including rain, snow, ice, heat, wind, and cold.
  • Travel throughout the yard or facility by walking or driving as needed.
  • Physically bend, squat, lean, and move plates to span rail cars.
  • See and hear moving equipment.
  • Work flexible hours and overtime as needed, including weekends and holidays.
Responsibilities
  • Safely adjust rail cars to set up unloading out of the rail cars.
  • Safely move vehicles off rail cars for pickup or shipment.
  • Drive manual and automatic transmission vehicles, including oversized vehicles.
  • Work in tight and narrow spaces.
  • Participate in job briefings with supervisors and crew before work begins.
  • Wear required personal protective equipment, including a safety vest or high-visibility shirt, safety glasses, hearing protection, and safety-toe boots.
  • Maintain clear communication with crew members while moving vehicles.
  • Inspect rail equipment and vehicles for damage and immediately notify the operator and supervisor if damage is found.
  • Handle rail equipment and vehicles safely and efficiently.
  • Maintain awareness and organization in the auto yard, including monitoring potholes, debris, and slippery ground conditions.
