Requirements
  • At least 3 years of experience in electrical, electronic, and/or network communications.
  • Residence within a reasonable commuting distance of Indio, California, or willingness to relocate.
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems effectively.
  • Ability to work nonstandard business hours occasionally to support service customer contracts.
  • Ability to work a nonstandard work schedule as needed or required.
  • Significant domestic and possible international travel is required.
  • Ability to routinely lift up to 50 pounds and work in a field service environment with occasional exposure to electrical hazards and extreme temperatures.
Responsibilities
  • Assist with commissioning, troubleshooting, repairing, and analyzing SMA America's utility inverters in the field through email, telephone, and site visits.
  • Develop detailed knowledge of SMA utility inverter products, associated SMA accessories, and third-party accessories sold for use with the inverters.
  • Maintain an accurate inventory count of spare parts provided by SMA.
  • Work regularly with high-voltage direct current electricity, three-phase power, and the relevant inverter software and firmware.
  • Maintain customer satisfaction while striving to lower field-service costs.
  • Assist with, perform, and maintain maintenance activities according to the SMA product maintenance manual at assigned sites with customer contractual obligations.
Desired Qualifications
  • Prior experience in the renewable energy industry.
  • Knowledge of solar and/or alternative energy markets.
  • Knowledge of the National Electric Code.
  • A bachelor's degree in a technical field, or equivalent experience working in the renewables industry.
