Requirements
  • A bachelor’s degree in engineering, physical science, biological science, or a related field of study is required.
  • At least 5 years of experience in the medical device industry and/or medical device Regulatory Affairs, or equivalent experience, is required.
  • Expertise in Regulatory Affairs, submission preparation, FDA device law and regulations, worldwide regulatory requirements and procedures, project management, and negotiations is required.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement regulatory strategies and processes to assure timely global commercialization of products in compliance with applicable regulations and standards.
  • Ensure compliance with global regulations and regulatory agencies, interpret the intent of regulations and policies, and provide this information to project teams and management.
  • Establish and support policies and standards for the measurement of new products and drive a regulatory culture.
  • Represent the regulatory function on project teams as a subject matter expert, provide guidance on regulatory requirements, and develop worldwide regulatory strategies.
  • Coach project teams on product labeling, claims support, promotional and scientific materials, and related activities to ensure regulatory requirements are met throughout development.
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to resolve complex regulatory issues.
  • Develop 510(k) submissions for medical devices for commercialization in the United States.
  • Generate documentation for worldwide governmental regulatory agencies to secure approvals to market products manufactured or distributed by BWI and/or Johnson & Johnson affiliates.
  • Conduct submission negotiations with regulatory authorities throughout the product lifecycle to ensure timely approvals for new products and product modifications.
  • Maintain proficiency in regulatory requirements and develop and maintain rapport with FDA reviewers and project team members.
  • Provide continuing regulatory education and disseminate regulatory information to product development, marketing, and clinical groups.
  • Perform copy review of internal- and external-facing documentation for compliance with applicable regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Provide regulatory support for internal and external regulatory agency audits.
  • Coach junior colleagues in techniques, processes, and responsibilities.
  • Communicate business-related issues or opportunities to the next management level.
  • Follow company guidelines related to health, safety, and environmental practices.
  • Ensure personal and company compliance with federal, state, local, and company regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
