Requirements
  • A nursing degree from an accredited college or university is required.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise the day-to-day nursing activities of the facility during the assigned tour of duty in accordance with applicable standards, guidelines, and regulations.
  • Assist the Director of Nursing Services in directing the day-to-day functions of the nursing activities.
  • Develop, maintain, and update written policies and procedures governing the nursing service department.
  • Ensure that reference materials and the Nursing Service Procedures Manual remain current and accurately reflect facility nursing procedures.
  • Ensure that nursing service personnel comply with procedures, job descriptions, dress codes, and other departmental policies.
  • Prepare written and oral reports and recommendations concerning the operation of the nursing service department.
  • Coordinate nursing services with other resident services to maintain continuity of residents' total care regimen.
  • Participate in the nursing service department's quality assurance program and facility surveys conducted by authorized government agencies.
  • Review and update resident discharge plans and assist with planning the nursing services portion of those plans.
  • Meet with nursing staff and support personnel to plan departmental services, programs, and activities.
  • Admit, transfer, and discharge residents and complete required accident and incident reports.
  • Interpret department policies and procedures for personnel, residents, visitors, and government agencies.
  • Complete medical forms, reports, evaluations, studies, charting, and other administrative documentation.
  • Protect assigned user credentials and residents' protected health information and report unauthorized access or disclosure.
  • Attend facility committee meetings, prepare reports, provide information to the Quality Assurance and Assessment Committee, and participate in Care Plan Committee agenda development and discharge-plan reviews.
  • Implement recommendations from established facility committees as instructed by the Director.
  • Ensure adequate staffing of registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, and certified nursing assistants for the assigned shift.
  • Develop work assignments and delegate administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability to charge nurses.
  • Ensure that nurse aides are enrolled in or have graduated from approved training programs and that trainees work under licensed-nurse supervision.
  • Make daily rounds, monitor absenteeism and staffing, review complaints and grievances, and report findings and problem areas to the Director.
  • Review and evaluate the department workforce and participate in performance evaluations, staffing decisions, disciplinary actions, and recommendations concerning employee dismissals and transfers.
  • Maintain a professional and supportive environment and meet regularly with shift personnel to identify and correct problem areas.
  • Report occupational exposures, suspected fraud, and information-security issues in accordance with facility policies.
  • Inform nursing personnel of new admissions, prepare rooms, greet and escort newly admitted residents, and make rounds with physicians as necessary.
  • Consult with residents, families, and physicians to plan care, treatment, and rehabilitation, and notify physicians and next of kin of changes in resident condition.
  • Visit residents daily to observe and evaluate physical and emotional status.
  • Provide or ensure provision of direct nursing care by qualified licensed nurses, certified nursing assistants, or nurse aide trainees.
  • Review nurses' notes, resident care plans, medication records, treatments, and physician orders for completeness, accuracy, and compliance.
  • Start intravenous lines, obtain sputum and urine specimens for laboratory tests, and take temperature, pulse, respirations, and blood pressure as necessary.
  • Monitor seriously ill residents, authorize restraints when necessary under facility policy, and monitor medication passes and treatment schedules.
  • Inspect nursing treatment areas and ensure clean, safe, and sanitary conditions and adequate resident checks.
  • Meet with residents and family members, arrange transportation for discharged residents, inform families of resident deaths, and contact funeral homes when requested.
  • Develop, schedule, and conduct in-service training and assist with annual training programs covering OSHA, tuberculosis, HIPAA, abuse prevention, safety, and infection control.
  • Assist with clinical supervision for nurse aide trainees and attend continuing education programs to maintain professional licensure.
  • Assist in developing nursing-service safety standards and identifying tasks involving potential exposure to blood or body fluids.
  • Ensure appropriate training, personal protective equipment, hand hygiene, infection-control, fire-safety, disaster-preparedness, and hazardous-condition reporting procedures are followed.
  • Participate in development, implementation, and maintenance of the infection-control program and isolation-precaution procedures.
  • Ensure nursing equipment and supplies are adequately stocked, safely operated, maintained, and used efficiently.
  • Maintain appropriate material safety data sheets for hazardous chemicals used in the nursing service department.
  • Participate in resident nursing-needs assessments and development, review, and revision of preliminary and comprehensive care plans.
  • Assist with the Minimum Data Set process, including Resident Assessment Protocols and Triggers, and ensure care follows resident care plans and wishes.
  • Monitor economic conditions and recommend nursing-service adjustments, equipment needs, and corrective actions to the Director.
  • Report suspected fraud involving false billings, cost reports, and kickbacks.

PACS Group beats Q1 estimates with $0.50 EPS and $1.42B revenue despite 12.5% year-to-date stock decline

PACS Group has appointed Carey P. Hendrickson as chief financial officer, effective 27 April 2026. Hendrickson brings nearly four decades of financial leadership across healthcare, senior living and media sectors. Most recently, Hendrickson served as CFO of U.S. Physical Therapy, overseeing 779 outpatient clinics across 44 states. PACS Group has announced that co-founder and chief financial officer Mark Hancock will retire on 30 June 2026. He will continue serving on the company's board of directors as vice chairman. Hancock co-founded PACS in 2013 with Jason Murray, starting with two post-acute care facilities in San Diego. Dr Conway currently serves as CEO of Optum, UnitedHealth Group's health services division with revenues exceeding $200 billion.
