Jazz Pharmaceuticals reported a strong second quarter with revenue of $1.21 billion, beating analyst estimates of $1.12 billion and representing 15.5% year-on-year growth. The company raised its full-year revenue guidance to $4.68 billion from $4.38 billion. CEO Renée Galá attributed the performance to strong demand for flagship products like Xywav and Epidiolex, alongside accelerating uptake of new oncology therapies. Operating margin improved to 20.5%, up from negative 65.6% in the prior year quarter. However, adjusted earnings per share of $5.71 missed analyst expectations of $6.18. Jazz Pharmaceuticals to acquire Actio Biosciences for $820M upfront, adding KCNT1+ epilepsy therapy

Jazz Pharmaceuticals has agreed to acquire Actio Biosciences for $820 million upfront and up to $500 million in contingent payments. The deal adds ABS-1230, a clinical-stage precision therapy for KCNT1+ epilepsy, to Jazz's rare epilepsy portfolio. KCNT1+ epilepsy is a rare genetic condition affecting approximately 2,500 patients in the United States. Patients typically experience dozens to hundreds of seizures daily that resist standard medications. Around 80% of cases begin in infancy, with many children unable to reach basic developmental milestones. There are currently no FDA-approved therapies for KCNT1+ epilepsy. ABS-1230 recently showed meaningful seizure reductions in an early clinical trial. The ongoing Phase 1b/2a KYRON trial is designed as the registrational study supporting US new drug application submission.

Jazz Pharmaceuticals hits $1.2B quarterly revenue, raises full-year guidance to $4.75B on oncology surge

Jazz Pharmaceuticals reported record quarterly revenue of $1.2 billion for Q2 2026, marking a 16% year-over-year increase driven by double-digit growth across all key promoted brands. The oncology portfolio grew 32% year-over-year, supported by rapid adoption of Zepzelca in first-line maintenance and the successful launch of Modeyso. Xywav demonstrated 13% revenue growth as its low-sodium profile continues to differentiate it from high-sodium generics. The company raised its full-year revenue guidance to $4.60 billion–$4.75 billion. Jazz anticipates the 25 August PDUFA date for zanidatamab in first-line HER2-positive gastric cancers, with commercial teams prepared for immediate launch. The company is leveraging its biliary tract cancer infrastructure to support the zanidatamab rollout. Non-GAAP adjusted gross margin declined slightly due to higher sales mix of royalty-bearing products.

Jazz Pharmaceuticals' lung cancer drug fails trial but investors spared as focus shifts to first-line treatment

Jazz Pharmaceuticals' phase 3 trial evaluating Zepzelca in second-line small-cell lung cancer failed to meet its primary endpoint of overall survival. However, the setback's impact may be limited as Zepzelca's commercial focus has already shifted. In 2025, the FDA granted full approval to Zepzelca combined with Roche's Tecentriq as a first-line maintenance treatment for extensive-stage small-cell lung cancer. That approval demonstrated a 46% reduction in disease progression risk and a 27% reduction in death risk compared with Tecentriq alone. Zepzelca sales increased 60% year over year to approximately $101 million in Q1 2026, driven by first-line maintenance adoption. The drug contributed only 7% of Jazz's total 2025 revenue of $4.3 billion, with neurological medications Xywav and Epidiolex generating significantly larger sales.
