Requirements
  • 3 years of Inpatient coding experience
  • 2 years demonstrated coding experience required with focus on complex case mix
  • CCS certification from AHIMA
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent years of experience
  • Strong interpersonal and coder education expertise skills are essential to succeed
Responsibilities
  • Participate in the recruitment and orientation of Clinical Data Services staff
  • Recommend hiring, promotions, disciplinary actions, and terminations as appropriate
  • Coordinate activities focused on ensuring the accuracy and integrity of clinical data
  • Provide expertise in the areas of coding and classification systems to healthcare providers
  • Perform chart, internal/external coding and APG reviews to ensure compliance with established coding principles and documentation guidelines
Desired Qualifications
  • 5 years of Health Information Management/Medical Records experience in an academic medical center environment
  • Prior experience as a DRG Coordinator
  • Experience with 3M
  • RHIA or RHIT certification
