The Opportunity: 

As a Principal (Data Warehouse) Solution Architect, you will guide the integration and architecture of Climate’s data into a larger Bayer Enterprise data warehouse and support the enablement of data tooling solutions for its customers to leverage the data for R&D purposes.   You will be accountable for collaborating with stakeholders in engineering, business and R&D functions to define a technical roadmap, design, and then assist/oversee the execution and implementation of the technical strategy.

What You’ll Do:

• Partner with technical and science peers across the broader Bayer Enterprise to define a consolidated data warehouse and data tooling technical strategy 
• Lead technical direction and architectural evolution of the integration with Bayer’s data warehouse 
• Work with data ranging from on farm collected precision agriculture data to remote sensed satellite imagery 
• Deliver high quality, sustainable technology systems and teach others to do the same 
• Drive operational excellence and perform governance for the technical execution  
• Partner closely with Data Governance and Security teams on the implementation of Data ecosystem projects.  
• Represent requirements, resource & budgeting needs and project status for Data Ecosystem platforms and pipelines in executive steering committee meetings and own the communication of the function across Climate.   

About You:

What You’ll Need:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science or a related technical field 
• Software engineering work experience using a functional or object oriented language (Java, Scala, etc) 
• Solid knowledge of software development methodologies, technical project management and best practices 
• Experience working with Azure, AWS and/or GCP cloud platforms 
• Experience building scalable backend services (REST APIs, microservices, designing and implementing efficient data processing algorithms, messaging paradigms, middleware, persistent store) 

Nice To Haves:

• Experience in production with deployment in large cloud-based distributed environments 
• Experience working with distributed data platforms such as RedShift, BigQuery, Spark, Flink, Kafka etc. 
• Experience with relational and non-relational databases and persistence store 
• Experience with master reference data/management system

• Base salary estimated range between $145-190k annually, depending on the hiring location. You may also be offered bonuses, RSUs cash equivalent, or commission.
