Requirements
  • Master’s or Doctorate’s degree from accredited Nursing Program for Nurse Practitioner; Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from accredited Physician Assistant Program for Physician Assistant
  • Active Wisconsin NP or PA licensure
  • If Nurse Practitioner: Active RN and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse certifications and licenses, including prescriptive authority, in state(s) of practice and Active board certification as a NP in area of clinical practice (e.g. Adult Gerontology Acute Care)
  • If Physician Assistant: Active PA license including prescriptive authority in state(s) of practice and Active PA board certification
  • All Nurse Practitioner and Physician Assistant applicants must have: Active DEA license or ability to apply for such license prior to or upon hire
  • Active license or eligibility to obtain active licensure in state of practice (Wisconsin and other states)
Responsibilities
  • Provide advanced inpatient care for cardiothoracic transplant patients
  • Preoperative orders and postoperative care for heart and lung transplant patients
  • Participation in Heart Failure/Shock team protocols
  • Support surgical elements of the lung and heart transplant programs (collaborating with Advanced Pulmonary/ECMO program, Heart Failure/MCS programs)
  • Support ECMO specialists and VAD specialists
  • Participation in daily rounding, multidisciplinary rounds, and review for appropriate billing
  • Clinical management of Advanced Therapies including Impella, ECMO, and LVAD
  • Complex wound management, chest tubes, pacing wires, sternal closure monitoring, and participation in bedside procedures
  • Work at an ECMO Center of Excellence and Level 1 Trauma Center
  • Outpatient participation for patient work-up and continuity of care
  • Preoperative evaluation for heart and lung transplant patients including VAD and transplant candidacy
  • Participation in transplant selection conference
  • Coordinate care from inpatient to outpatient transplant clinic
