WSFS Financial beats Q2 estimates with $285M revenue as analysts probe deposit costs and margin defence

WSFS Financial reported second-quarter revenue of $285.2 million, beating analyst estimates of $278.7 million, whilst adjusted earnings per share came in at $1.66 versus expectations of $1.50. CEO Rodger Levenson credited the performance to robust fee-based businesses and disciplined deposit cost management, highlighting the company's ability to win new mandates in wealth and trust services. CFO David Burg noted net interest margin expansion driven by reduced client deposit costs and higher investment yields. During the earnings call, analysts pressed management on deposit cost trajectory amid rising competition, loan growth sustainability, expense variability, and the long-term outlook for fee income. Burg acknowledged that whilst WSFS has lowered deposit costs, increasing competition may require higher pricing, though margins should remain stable overall. The company maintains a market capitalisation of $4.14 billion.
