Requirements
  • Bachelor’s or post-secondary education in Social Sciences, Human Resources, Administration, Adult Education, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in volunteer management or a related role, ideally in senior care or a faith-based setting.
  • Valid First Aid Certificate.
  • Access to personal transportation and willingness to travel between Kelowna-area communities.
  • Signing and adherence to the Statement of Faith of Baptist Housing.
  • Ability to provide Christian ministry and align with Baptist Housing’s Christian values.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate servant leadership by modeling Jesus Christ’s values in interactions with volunteers, residents, and team members.
  • Foster a culture of Christian values aligned with Baptist Housing’s mission and vision.
  • Provide one-on-one spiritual care, including prayers, devotionals, or worship activities, as needed.
  • Design, implement, and evaluate volunteer programs to meet residents’ needs.
  • Coordinate volunteer schedules and placements with care teams and chaplains.
  • Provide regular reports on volunteer program effectiveness and recommend improvements based on data analysis.
  • Recruit volunteers from local churches to provide spiritual care services such as chapel services, Bible reading, prayer, and visitation.
  • Oversee volunteer screening, including reference checks, criminal record checks, and interviews.
  • Promote volunteer opportunities through community outreach, newsletters, and media campaigns.
  • Orient and train volunteers on their roles, Baptist Housing’s values, safety protocols, and resident care standards.
  • Provide ongoing guidance, conflict resolution, and feedback to support volunteers.
  • Coordinate with chaplains to train spiritual care volunteers to meet residents’ spiritual needs.
  • Plan and implement recognition events to celebrate volunteer contributions and foster retention.
  • Analyze volunteer feedback and data to enhance program effectiveness and satisfaction.
  • Recommend additional training or development opportunities to support volunteer growth.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary care teams to ensure volunteer placements complement holistic resident care.
  • Identify hazards and enforce safe practices in volunteer activities.
  • Build relationships with internal teams, external partners, and local communities.
