About the Role
We are searching for an analytically minded, highly motivated individual to join our Central Safety Operations team! This team focuses on the global safety landscape covering both on-trip safety and platform access safety for the Mobility and Delivery businesses. In this role, you will need to have a firm foundation in data analysis, a proven ability to translate the "what" into the "so what," and a passion for eliminating root causes that lead to safety incidents and poor user experiences on the platform. You will work closely with safety and business partners to identify root causes of safety trends, develop educational content to mitigate risks, and measure the success of controls we have in place to make the Uber platform safer. You will develop strategic business recommendations to address gaps in our safety processes and concerning trends. You will have the autonomy to find opportunity areas and independently work with product, operations and data teams to craft strategic ways to mitigate risk on the platform. Your work will ultimately cultivate safer user experiences!
What You’ll Do
- Use a data-focused approach to identify, understand, and evaluate the biggest risks on our platform, their safety controls, and the efficacy of controls
- Design scalable solutions to mitigate those risks while ensuring the solutions are locally and culturally relevant across our diverse marketplace
- Partner with key stakeholders on cross-functional initiatives to support company growth initiatives while maintaining a high bar for safety standards
- Measure & communicate about the impact of important programs (ex. Develop communication materials & playbooks about key projects, programs & impact)
Basic Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s program and a junior standing with at least one semester remaining (earliest graduation December 2023)
- Project and/or program management experience
- Minimum 1 year of involvement in extracurricular groups, activities, or internships
Preferred Qualifications
- Interest in working with strategy, operations, consulting, safety & trust, food safety, women’s safety and/or risk management
- Proven experience interpreting and presenting data to various audiences.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills. Able to synthesize a lot of information quickly, highlight key take-aways, and disseminate meaningful insights
- Ability to work with and efficiently communicate with a large number of cross-functional partners across different levels and parts of the organization from different cultural backgrounds
- Self-motivated with a consistent record to take initiative in a fast paced environment
- Experience in problem-solving and proposing solutions to complex issues
- Ability to use data to discover insights, measure performance and develop a narrative to support our safety goals.
About the Team
The Central Safety Team tackles management of Uber’s most critical risk and control spaces, the team enables regional safety teams and operations leadership teams to best manage risk locally.
The Central Safety team is organized based on the company’s three material safety risks spaces (personal, road, and catalog safety) and some of safety’s most globally scaled controls (education, deactivations, screenings, identity, etc). This role will support the Personal Safety risk team and the Safety Education control team.
