Requirements
  • A Bachelor\'s degree in Business Administration, Transportation Management, Urban Planning or a related field is preferred; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of degree
  • Must possess a minimum of 8 years related experience.
  • Must possess at least 5 years of managerial/supervisory experience.
Responsibilities
  • Leading the day-to-day management of operations and/or construction project planning activities in addition to daily Rail Control Center (RCC) activities, including managing the safe monitoring of trains, and responding to and conducting investigations of emergencies and operational incidents.
  • Monitoring the collection of fares and customer service, and maintaining cleanliness and professional appearance of station areas, auditing operating performance and customer amenities.
  • Managing capital construction flagging activities and serving as the principal point of contact for capital programs.
  • Involvement in various aspects of administration, planning, hiring, labor relations and the implementation of new business processes.
  • Responsible for the management of safety in a proactive manner and safety accountability by ensuring compliance with safety regulations, conducting safety audits, implementing corrective actions, and fostering a culture of safety awareness.
  • Financial accountability including the monitoring of the departmental budget, optimizing resource allocation, and ensuring expenditures (overtime) align with department and organizational protocols.

  • In-depth knowledge of mass transit/ railroad operations, capital program activities and cleaning operations.
  • General knowledge of Staten Island Railway and DOS Subway operations, operating rules, labor contracts, and physical characteristics.
  • Strong labor relations, and team building skills.
  • Strong change management and adaptability skills.
  • Proficiency in managing changing and conflicting priorities.
  • Competent in Microsoft Office products.
