The eCommerce Supply Chain Management Data Lead is responsible for providing the S.com day-to-day operators with valuable insights to help shape the direction of the business. This person will lead the Data Team to align tasks and initiatives with specific business goals set forth by Leadership. Tasks will include analyzing large datasets to building models to identify operational trends and anomalies across all LOBs. You will work closely with our internal teams to help us understand our business. This is a highly visible role with a high impact across the org.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Led a team of 4 (2 data engineers, 2 Data Analyst/Scientist) to develop and grow to meet the demands of the business.
- Intake data-related requests from Business and align resources to deliver creative and effective solutions.
- Drive strategic and tactical planning of eCom operations from a data perspective and present recommendations to leadership.
- Collect, organize, and analyze large datasets from multiple sources to gain insights into customer behavior and operations trends.
- Prepare comprehensive reports and dashboards to present data findings and support decision-making.
- Identify areas for improvement and suggest data-driven solutions to optimize business operations and increase revenue.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure data accuracy and relevance, and facilitate effective communication of results.
- Utilize statistical methods and visualization tools to uncover patterns, correlations, and anomalies in the data.
- Stay updated with the latest analytical tools and techniques to enhance the company’s data capabilities.
- Provide ongoing support and training to colleagues on data analysis best practices.
- Present findings and recommendations to stakeholders in clear and concise formats, facilitating decision-making processes.
- Help manage a diverse group of vendor partners that are vital to the success of eCommerce operations, including but not limited to providing input on contract reviews, SLA adherence, budgeting, cost analysis, and procurement.
- Partner with the customer service team to understand consumer pain points and work on initiatives to improve the customer experience.
- Monitor and take action on exception reporting and understand measurements of KPI’s for lead times, shipping time, backorders, and shipping exceptions to track progress towards operational goals for direct eCommerce business and work on initiatives to improve KPIs.
Skills and Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- 6+ years in a similar role in eCommerce or Operations.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Data Science, Business Analytics, Economics, or a related field.
- Ability to lead a team and motivate individuals to perform at their best.
- Strong experience in data collection, cleaning, and analysis.
- Proficient in JIRA, Confluence, Excel, SQL, and data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to convey complex data insights in simple terms.
- Ability to work collaboratively and effectively under pressure.
- Familiarity with e-commerce platforms and industry metrics.
- Experience with high-volume direct-to-consumer e-commerce fulfillment or returns illustrating process and KPI improvements to scale growth (operations or logistics is a strong advantage.)
- Must have experience using Tableau, and Microsoft PC software including extensive use of Excel spreadsheets, Word, Access, and SAP business systems, or similar sales order management software applications.
Physical/Mental Demands and Working Conditions
- Work is generally performed in an office environment.
- Operate a computer keyboard and view a video display terminal 50% of work time, including prolonged periods.
- The movement and transportation of equipment, most of the time under 25 pounds.
- Performs work under time schedules and stresses which are normally periodic or cyclical, including time-sensitive job stress, fatigue, unpaid overtime, intellectual challenge, constant technical data feedback, language barriers, and business management stress.
- Machines, tools, equipment, and work aids representative and commonly associated with PCs, printers, and office work areas.
- Frequently works additional hours beyond normal schedule.
- Under very little direct supervision with a high level of responsibility to apply general policies and guidelines where decisions are seldom monitored and consequences of decisions adversely affect operating results and management decisions. Complete access to confidential company data where disclosure may jeopardize the company’s competitive position.
