Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or certification in cardiac monitoring or healthcare-related field preferred.
  • Previous experience as a Monitor Tech or similar role in a healthcare setting is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with cardiac rhythms and ability to recognize common arrhythmias is highly desirable.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to focus for extended periods while monitoring multiple patients simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with patients and healthcare team members.
  • Ability to remain calm and composed in high-pressure situations and respond quickly to emergent situations.
  • Basic computer skills for data entry and documentation purposes.
Responsibilities
  • Watch cardiac monitors continuously to observe patients' heart rhythms and detect any irregularities or abnormalities.
  • Quickly recognize and respond to monitor alarms indicating changes in heart rate, rhythm, or other cardiac parameters.
  • Alert nurses, physicians, or other healthcare providers immediately when abnormal rhythms or significant changes in patient status are detected.
  • Record and document cardiac rhythms, alarm events, and interventions accurately and in a timely manner in the patient's medical records.
  • Ensure proper functioning of cardiac monitoring equipment by performing regular checks, troubleshooting technical issues, and reporting malfunctions promptly.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with members of the healthcare team, providing concise and accurate information about patients' cardiac status.
  • Advocate for patient safety and well-being by promptly addressing any concerns or issues related to cardiac monitoring and reporting them to the appropriate personnel.
  • Collaborate with nurses, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care and facilitate timely interventions as needed.
  • Adhere to hospital policies, procedures, and protocols related to cardiac monitoring, patient safety, and confidentiality.
