Requirements
  • Associate's degree from an accredited school of Radiologic Technology.
  • Registered ARRT (R ) upon hire must receive ARRT CT certification within 15 months from hire date.
  • Registered ARRT (NM) or NMTCB must receive ARRT CT certification within 15 months from hire date.
  • Advanced certification in CT needs to be attempted to be completed at 12 months, and completed at no longer than 15 months from date of employment.
  • Successful completion of Hospital, Core, and Department specific orientation requirements.
  • BLS required within 6 months after hire.
Responsibilities
  • Assist the radiologists during radiographic scans.
  • Help perform computerized tomography (CT) scans on any and all parts of the body as ordered by the physician.
  • Operate and perform basic computer programs associated with record keeping in the Department.
  • Assist Radiologists during procedure studies to provide optimal Diagnostic/Special Radiology examinations.
  • Transport, lift and move patients, as needed.
  • Prepare the necessary equipment for procedure.
  • Operate highly sophisticated electronic equipment during exams.
  • Observe patient vital signs and other pertinent data and anticipate the needs of the physician.
  • Administer or assist in the administration of contract media under the direction of the Radiologist.
  • Maintain cleanliness of procedures rooms and equipment.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of patient information.
  • Maintain appropriate supply level in their areas of responsibility.
  • Demonstrate or oversee on-the-job training for student technologists and other non-professional assistants as assigned.
  • Work in other hospital areas as necessary to accommodate patient/physician needs.
  • Operate all equipment properly and regularly perform maintenance and quality control work.
  • Immediately report any malfunctions, necessary adjustments or repairs for equipment.
Desired Qualifications
  • Strong understanding of basic aseptic and high-level disinfection, avoiding infection/contamination of equipment and supplies.
  • Basic understanding of caring for equipment and supplies.
  • General working knowledge of computers and department specific software.
  • Familiarity with location of other departments and general regulations/policies of the hospital.
  • Must be able to communicate and collaborate effectively with all members of the health care team, patients, and family members.
  • Must be able to use appropriate and professional phone, electronic and other communication etiquette.
  • Must have the ability to provide positive customer service.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced work environment, make quick decisions under pressure, and the ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects/situations.
