Requirements
  • At least 1 year of experience providing installation and maintenance for copper and fiber cables supporting voice and data networks.
  • Experience with local area network, wide area network, and telecommunications networks.
  • Understanding and knowledge of basic electronic principles, fiber optics, and light-wave transmissions.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, including infrastructure design and splicing diagrams.
  • Familiarity with test equipment and cable-testing procedures.
  • Knowledge of safety precautions related to cable splicing.
  • Ability to crawl under or behind customer work environments to access client systems.
  • Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 30 pounds unassisted.
  • Ability to climb to access systems.
  • Ability to work in an office environment and outside in a variety of conditions.
  • Must be a United States citizen.
Responsibilities
  • Prepare and install connectors for local area networks and automated communications systems.
  • Use LAN testers, fiber testers, and other continuity testers.
  • Create and maintain databases and modify program contents to support new data.
  • Coordinate with other departments to perform operational maintenance tests, interface with equipment, and implement changes affecting maintenance and installation activities.
  • Review, update, and generate documents supporting communication systems.
