Position Description:
Assistant Professor (tenure-track) position in Chemistry, McGill University

Job Duties:

Applications are invited for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in the Department of Chemistry at McGill University. The Department seeks candidates committed to establishing a vigorous and internationally recognized research program in any area of chemistry related to nucleic acids and their applications. The position aligns with McGill University’s growing interdisciplinary strengths in nucleic acid sciences, chemical biology, biophysics, genomics, and related areas. Relevant areas may include, but are not limited to, nucleic acid synthesis and chemical modification; molecular structure, dynamics, and recognition; biophysical chemistry; biomaterials and delivery systems; and the development of nucleic acid-based therapeutics. Research programs may address fundamental, methodological, applied, or translational questions involving DNA, RNA, modified nucleic acids, or related molecular systems.

The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to undergraduate and graduate teaching in chemistry, including courses within the Department’s core curriculum and specialized courses related to their area of expertise. Candidates should therefore have a strong foundation in chemistry and demonstrated potential to contribute broadly to the Department’s teaching and research missions.

Candidates should hold a PhD and have postdoctoral experience, proven research ability, and a commitment to service and teaching in chemistry. Applications from senior candidates may be considered. The successful candidate will be expected to work well in a multidisciplinary, collaborative research environment and develop a research program and expertise that complement existing strengths within the Department of Chemistry.
