- A high school diploma or GED is required.
- One to three years of experience as a Medical Assistant in a clinical setting is required.
- An active Medical Assistant certification in California is required.
- CPR certification is required, or the candidate must be willing to obtain it.
- The candidate must be skilled in pulmonary function testing, fractional exhaled nitric oxide testing, and peak flow monitoring.
- The candidate must know how to educate patients about medications and environmental controls.
- The candidate must be able to work independently and exercise sound judgment.
- The candidate must be able to stand, walk, and move throughout the clinic for extended periods; occasionally lift up to 25 pounds; bend, stoop, or reach; frequently use hands and fingers for patient care and equipment operation; and respond quickly in a fast-paced clinical environment.
- The position requires full-time availability for 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday.
- Greet patients and assist with intake and preparation for provider visits.
- Provide general care and administer prescribed treatments, including allergy and immunotherapy injections.
- Educate patients and families on immunotherapy protocols and safety.
- Monitor and document vital signs, treatment responses, and post-injection observation periods.
- Assist with skin testing, patch testing, and pulmonary function testing.
- Calibrate and operate pulmonary function testing equipment.
- Support the clinical team during peak times and complex procedures.
- Maintain clean, stocked examination and injection rooms.
- Document patient vital signs, test results, and care summaries in the electronic health record.
- Perform routine equipment sterilization and ensure compliance with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act and Occupational Safety and Health Administration standards.
- Support limited submission of prior authorizations when requested.
- Assist licensed vocational nurses or registered nurses during procedures as needed.
- Administer injections according to protocols as part of the immunotherapy nursing team.
- Perform other clinical or administrative duties assigned by supervisors or providers.
- Experience with electronic health record systems is preferred.
- Experience in allergy or immunology is preferred but not required.
