Requirements
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures, including the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
  • Operate manual lensometer, auto-lensometer, autorefractor/keratometer, retinal camera, visual field, GDX, or optical coherence tomography (OCT) equipment.
  • Follow testing-equipment scripts for photographs, visual fields, visual acuity, and related testing.
  • Clean examination equipment, including the tonometer tip.
  • Have at least 1 year of experience interacting with customers or patients, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Obtain a favorable background-check result as required by the state.
  • Provide proof of identity and the right to work in the United States.
  • Have a high school diploma or GED.
  • Be proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Meet the physical requirements, including frequent walking, sitting, and standing; regular bending, stooping, and reaching; lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling items up to 25 pounds; strong fine motor skills and full use of the hands; required visual and auditory acuity; and occasional driving or climbing.
Responsibilities
  • Assist the optometrist by performing the initial testing needed to prepare patients for an optometrist examination.
  • Execute the Total Patient Experience while building relationships with patients and providing medical support.
  • Work with urgency while valuing patients’ time and the doctor’s schedule.
  • Interact with employees at all levels in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Perform general office duties and cleaning assigned by the manager.
  • Maintain a positive work environment that is team-oriented and patient-focused.
  • Work hours that meet business needs, including weekends, schedule changes, or extended schedules.
  • Work primarily in an office or clinical setting and travel to other locations when required to perform essential duties.
Desired Qualifications
  • Previous medical office experience is preferred.
  • Previous ophthalmic experience is strongly preferred.
