Requirements
  • High school education or its equivalent; an AA or Bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • Two years of experience as a phlebotomist.
  • Certified for venipuncture and skin puncture.
  • Be able to communicate well in English both in writing and verbally.
  • Minimum of four years of experience in a clinical laboratory with at least two years of experience as a Laboratory Technician, lead laboratory assistant, and/or Lab Assistant Supervisor, or equivalent experience.
  • Have at least two years of LIS experience and computer knowledge, or demonstrate proficiency.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Experience with operation of automated chemistry, hematology, or microbiology equipment.
  • Work well under supervision and in times of stress.
  • BCLS Card (American Heart Association) within 30 days of hire and maintain.
Responsibilities
  • Assist in phlebotomy and processing area including send out tests and microbiology set-ups.
  • Coordinate the duties and responsibilities of the Laboratory Assistant to relieve the Clinical Laboratory Scientist the phlebotomy and processing area responsibilities.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in assisting and gaining the confidence of the Clinical Laboratory Scientist to operate designated automated instruments.
  • Manage and troubleshoot LIS capability and computer-related issues in the processing area as well as the billing aspect.
  • Work independently and as part of a team to ensure laboratory operations run smoothly.
