Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or other related field; a high school diploma or GED with utility and/or railroad coordination experience on projects may be considered in lieu of education.
  • INDOT Certified Utility Coordinator and Railroad Coordinator
  • 10+ years of relevant experience
  • Experience developing and/or reviewing utility relocation designs
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD and/or MicroStation is preferred
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products including Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Proficiency with Bluebeam Revu, and GIS systems
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work individually or as part of a team
  • Valid Driver's License
Responsibilities
  • Overseeing the overall utility and railroad coordination functions for the designated area and overseeing other team members involved in utility coordination.
  • Performing utility and railroad coordination activities for a variety of state and local public agency projects.
  • Reviewing project plans, identifying potential conflicts, and developing utility workplans, schedules and timelines.
  • Reviewing cost estimates and preparing budgets for utility relocation.
  • Serving as the primary point of contact for all utility coordination activities on assigned projects.
  • Keeping project teams, clients, management, and other stakeholders informed on the status of utility coordination activities.
  • Facilitating and/or actively participating in utility coordination meetings with project managers, designers, clients and other stakeholders.
  • Periodically travelling to project sites to meet with clients, utility companies, designers, construction teams and/or other stakeholders.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with clients providing the highest level of service and responsiveness to meet client needs.
  • Leading and mentoring junior level staff engaged in utility and railroad coordination activities.
  • Identifying opportunities to implement more efficient protocols to decrease review turn times, optimizing permit inventory and tracking management systems, and embracing new state and local initiatives for rollout to team members.
  • May perform other duties related to the role.
