Overview
The Role
Gain hands-on experience managing real construction projects from planning through execution. As a Construction & Project Management Intern, you’ll work alongside project managers, construction managers, superintendents, engineers, and field teams supporting active industrial construction and automation projects.
You’ll learn how successful projects are planned, coordinated, documented, and delivered while gaining exposure to both the business and field sides of construction.
Responsibilities
- Assist project and construction managers with day-to-day project coordination and execution.
- Support project schedules, progress tracking, and project documentation.
- Help prepare and maintain RFIs, submittals, change documentation, meeting notes, and project records.
- Assist with material, equipment, and subcontractor coordination.
- Participate in project meetings, site walks, and construction planning activities.
- Help track project costs, labor, materials, and other project metrics.
- Assist with reviewing drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and project requirements.
- Coordinate with engineering, procurement, field operations, safety, quality, and other project teams.
- Support project closeout, punch-list activities, and turnover documentation.
- Gain exposure to project controls, estimating, scheduling, and construction management processes.
What You’ll Bring
Required
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Construction Science, Project Management, Engineering, or a related field.
- Interest in construction, project management, or industrial projects.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively with different teams.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel.
- Willingness to learn in both office and active construction-site environments.
- Available to work full-time for the duration of the summer program.
- Ability to travel to or work at project locations as required.
Preferred
- Coursework or exposure to quality management, inspection, or QA/QC concepts.
- Interest in construction, manufacturing, or industrial quality.
Internship Details
- This is a full-time summer internship running approximately 8–10 weeks during Summer 2027, based at various Prime Controls locations.
- Interns work alongside experienced professionals on meaningful, real-world projects and receive mentorship throughout the program.
- The internship is designed to build practical, career-ready skills and to help interns explore career paths at Prime Controls.
- Strong performers may be considered for future internship terms or full-time opportunities.
Benefits
Work Environment & Physical Demands
This role is performed in a combination of office and active project-site environments. When on site, the intern may be exposed to outdoor weather conditions, moderate to loud noise, and typical construction hazards, and must follow all site safety and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements. The role may require occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds, as well as standing, walking, and climbing stairs or ladders.
