Requirements

Responsibilities
  • Supporting our production partners in their negotiation of music deals (eg, composer, artist and songwriter deals, music director and music production deals, record company and music publishing waivers) in addition to handling certain music deals in-house (eg, negotiating commercial terms and structuring, negotiating and drafting agreements with composers, songwriters, artists, performers, producers and record companies).
  • Provide music business & legal support and guidance to internal teams, including negotiating and drafting music terms in production services agreements, content licences and other rights acquisition deals and guidance around song credits.
  • Advise on music business/legal matters for internal teams such as Production, Creative, and Rights Acquisition teams.
  • Serve as a primary contact for music clearance and licensing matters for content verticals (e.g., series, film, or documentary) across EMEA, responsible for overseeing the clearance and licensing of songs and advising internal and external stakeholders on music rights and restrictions as it pertains to pre-existing music.
  • Overseeing music clearances from start to finish, including: onboarding and guiding music supervisors and music clearance personnel. Advise on clearance; researching rights advising on quotes from labels, publishers and music libraries, including licensor modifications to quotes; tracking rights and restrictions to ensure consistency across Netflix’s productions; monitoring music budgets and clearance reports in coordination with our creative teams, providing “ballpark estimates” when needed; making public domain determinations; reviewing song credits; ensuring accurate legal delivery of music clearance documentation.
  • Managing, drafting, negotiating, reviewing, redlining, tracking and administering licenses (master and synch, etc.) and establishing, negotiating and administering music license boilerplate forms with all licensors.
  • Researching music ownership and seeking, obtaining and negotiating quotes from record labels, music publishers and music libraries.
  • Participating in other projects and initiatives specific to Netflix's music needs.
  • Build and maintain relationships with music supervisors, agents, production counsel, managers, publishers, and record companies across the music industry.
  • Lead and present music-related educational sessions to Netflix internal teams and external production partners.
  • Ability to work proactively, independently and reliably on multiple projects under tight time frames in a fast-paced production environment.
